Members KaDee Bramlett (oboe), Dawn Marie Lindblade (clarinet) and Lori Wooden (bassoon) are good friends and faculty at the University of Central Oklahoma. With double reed instruments becoming an endangered species in the public schools in the United States, and inspired by the large repertoire from the publishing company L’oiseau-Lyre (and more specifically to the commissioning efforts of the extraordinary Louise B. M Hanson-Dyer (1884-1962), its founder and influential music patron) -- Sugar Fish hopes to bring the reed trio to the forefront of Chamber Music in the state of Oklahoma and beyond. Sugar Fish members recently recorded a CD of works by composer Bill Douglas in collaboration with pianist Kevin Casey that will be released next year. In the future, Sugar Fish has intentions to support the composition of new music for this instrumentation by up-and-coming female composers and to draw more attention to this fascinating sound combination. KaDee Bramlett teaches oboe, music theory, and aural skills. She holds a Master of Music degree in oboe performance from Arizona State University, where she studied with Martin Schuring and holds a Bachelor of Music degree in oboe performance from the University of Central Oklahoma where she graduated as the Class Marshall for the College of Arts, Media, and Design (now the College of Fine Arts and Design). Ms. Bramlett is currently working toward a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Oklahoma. In addition to teaching at UCO, Ms. Bramlett is a member of the Sugar Fish reed trio, the Edmond Chamber Orchestra, and is a freelance performer. She maintains an active private oboe studio and is the founder and director of Quantum Calm, a modern chamber music ensemble with the mission of performing in venues such as yoga studios, labyrinth walks, and meditation classes. KaDee Bramlett is a soloist with the University of Central Oklahoma Chamber Collegium on the piece "Firecracker" released on the album "American Byways: The Music of Michael Daugherty", which is currently available on iTunes. Ms. Bramlett is a member of the International Double Reed Society, the Midwest Double Reed Society, and Pi Kappa Lambda. She strives to guide and inspire her students to become successful, professional musicians in an ever-changing music industry. Dr. Dawn Marie Lindblade, Associate Professor of clarinet at the University of Central Oklahoma, joined the faculty in the fall of 2011. She also teaches for Clarinet Pro Workshops with Executive Director, Julie Linder. She is currently principal clarinet in the Edmond Chamber Orchestra.
